Case Study: Emergency Site Services for SCE – Sand Fire

cal-state site services on location during 2016 sand fire
We deployed 2,300 feet of temporary fencing and portable sanitation units for SoCal Edison’s critical wildfire repair crews across 4 LA County staging areas during the 2016 Sand Fire.

Customer:

Southern California Edison (SCE)

Challenge:

This job presented a time-sensitive challenge. As a result of the Sand Fire, SoCal Edison needed to immediately deploy remote construction crews to repair damaged poles and power outage lines. They urgently needed to establish temporary staging areas at 4 locations in the affected areas that would reduce travel time and protect their resources on site from trespassers.

Solution:

We were able to respond immediately. Within 2 hours of the initial phone call on July 26, 2016, we installed 1,100 feet of freestanding chain link fencing at their first staging area, an asphalt parking lot at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. This temporary fence perimeter served to protect their mobile trailers, repair trucks and equipment.

The next morning, we repeated our efforts at their second staging area, Hansen Dam Recreation Center in Sylmar, CA. That location required we install 1,200 feet of freestanding chain link panels, plus 3 standard portable toilets and 1 double handwashing sink station.

By the end of the day, we dispatched our crew to deliver portable toilets and handwashing sinks to their third location in Canyon Country, CA and fourth location in Soledad Canyon, CA.

In summary, we met SCE’s requirement to set up temporary fencing and portable sanitation facilities at 4 locations within 24 hours.
